Emotions aren't problems to solve — they're signals. Learning to name what you're feeling is the first step to managing it.
• Anxiety often shows up physically — racing heart, shallow breathing, tight chest. Grounding techniques can help: name 5 things you can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear.
• Low mood lasting more than a couple of weeks isn't just 'feeling sad' — it's worth speaking to your GP.
• Anger is a secondary emotion — usually masking hurt, fear or frustration underneath.
• Journalling even one sentence a day helps you spot patterns in your moods over time.
