๐ Privacy & Your Data
Plain English โ no legal jargon. Here's exactly what we do (and don't do) with your information.
โ The short version
๐ฆ What is saved on your device?
Two small pieces of information are saved in your browser's local storage โ think of it like a private notepad stored on your own device that only you can read:
- Reading progress โ a list of article IDs you've marked as read. This is just a list of numbers (e.g.
[1, 4, 7]) โ no names, no personal details. - Budget tracker data โ the transactions you enter yourself (descriptions, amounts, dates, categories). This stays entirely on your device.
Nothing else is stored. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or any analytics that identifies you personally.
๐ช Why is there no cookie banner?
Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), websites do not need to ask for consent when storage is strictly necessary to provide a service you have explicitly asked for.
Saving your reading progress and your own budget entries so they are still there next time you visit are both strictly necessary for those features to work. A consent banner would be misleading โ it would suggest you have a choice about whether the features function at all, which is not the case.
We have no advertising, no third-party tracking, and no analytics cookies. There is nothing to consent to.
๐ฆ๐ง A note for young people
This site is designed with young people in mind. We take that seriously. Here is what that means in practice:
- We do not create accounts or profiles for you.
- We do not track your behaviour or build a picture of who you are.
- We do not share anything about you with anyone โ because we never receive anything about you.
- Your data is only ever on your own device, under your control.
This approach is designed to meet the ICO's Children's Code (Age Appropriate Design Code), which requires websites to put children's privacy first by default.
๐๏ธ How to delete your data
You have full control. You can delete your data at any time using the buttons below:

โ๏ธ Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have rights over your personal data. Because we never receive or hold any of your personal data, most of these rights are exercised directly through your browser by clearing your local storage as described above.
If you believe we have collected personal data about you, or if you have a complaint, you can contact the UK's data protection regulator:
